Onsite English sessions

We run conversation groups on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Approximately 4 Volunteers facilitate a conversation group with a small group of learners. The sessions run 11-1. We ask most volunteers to stay until 2pm to maintain our opening hours. The final hour often offers an opportunity to chat one to one with residents.

Onsite garden

We maintain a garden onsite, and support residents to grow flowers, fruit and vegetables. The most popular plant is mint that residents pick to make tea. The gardening days vary depending on the season.

Daily drop in, tailoring and barbering

We are open Monday-Friday for residents to come to spend time, get a haircut or their clothes mended, play a game, or ask for help. The session coordinator manages the multi-use room, where all these activities take place.

Other onsite activities

We run art groups, chess clubs and other activities depending on the skills and interests of our volunteers and of Napier residents. We always try to support volunteers who want to set up an activity, please talk to your Volunteer Coordinator if you have an idea.
